ENPS Integration

What is ENPS?

ENPS (Electronic News Production System) is a newsroom computer system (NRCS) developed by Associated Press. It is widely used in broadcast television for news production and rundown management.

ENPS allows journalists and editors to:

  • Write news scripts (stories)
  • Plan news rundowns
  • Coordinate between departments
  • Manage content timing and workflow

ENPS communicates with graphics control systems like Erizos Studio through the MOS (Media Object Server) protocol.

ENPS → MOS Protocol → Erizos Studio → Render Engine → Graphics On Air

  1. Journalists create stories and rundowns in ENPS
  2. ENPS sends MOS messages to Erizos Studio
  3. Erizos Studio receives graphics cues and metadata
  4. Erizos controls the render engine (Singular, Unreal Engine, Vizrt, etc.)
  5. Graphics appear on air at the right moment For more information about MOS configuration, see MOS.

ENPS Page ID Display Settings

Problem
When pages from ENPS appear in Erizos Studio, they may display with generic IDs instead of the ENPS story identifiers (e.g., "A12", "A19").

Solution
ENPS has a setting that controls how story IDs are transmitted via MOS to Erizos Studio.

To enable ENPS story identifiers in Erizos Studio:

  1. Open ENPS.
  2. Navigate to the rundown view (this may look like a spreadsheet/Excel-like interface).
  3. Go to the needful Content Hub→Production tab→click on the ‘MOS Story Send’ and tick the Erizos FL checkbox and save the settings.

Note

This setting determines whether ENPS sends the internal story reference (e.g., "A12") or a generic identifier.
The exact location and name of this setting may vary depending on your ENPS version and configuration. Consult your ENPS administrator or ENPS documentation for specific details.

Result: Pages will now appear in Erizos Studio with their ENPS story identifiers (e.g., "A12", "A19") instead of generic IDs.
